Budgeting & Managing Your Nonprofit's Money: Part II (Day 1)
Wednesday, March 21, 2007Workshop description:
In this workshop you will learn:
- definitions of common budgetary terms
- how program budgets differ from operating budgets
- how to report on finances to your staff, board, and funders.
- the basics about capital expenses and depreciation.
You will also produce an actual budget for your favorite program and answer such questions as:
- How do I develop a program budget?
- How much can I afford for technology next year?
- and, what’s an “operating budget”, anyway?
In this workshop, Kay Snowden will take you further into the world of sound financial management. You will work in small groups on real-life income and expense figures as you learn to monitor, manage, and report on your organization’s finances. To get the most from this workshop, please bring your own organizational or program budget to the training.
