Communications Part 3: Effective Media Tools for Your Communications Work

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

Note: Registration priority is given to those who have attended the previous communications workshops.

Workshop description:

Communications is a crucial, but often overlooked, component of our social justice work! While we are aware that the use of communications and public education tools are integral to raising public awareness and changing attitudes, we have not institutionalized within our organizations the ability to do effective communications and media advocacy.

This interactive, hands-on workshop will be an opportunity for participants to learn the media tools needed for your organization to achieve the media attention it desires (and deserves). This workshop will help participants understand all the various press materials you need to reach the media (press release, press statements, PSAs, etc.), when the press materials are used and to who the press materials should be sent. Finally, participants will learn the key steps in developing relationships with journalists, the foundation to your media work.

When: Wednesday, April 18, 2007, from 9:30am - 12:30pm

Where: Casey Family Services, 1268 Eddy St., Providence, RI 02905 (map)
