“Evaluation 101” - Training Description

What is an outcome? Is it the same as a goal? How can our organization evaluate our work? And, what in the world is a logic model?

If you have questions like these, you’re not alone. People working in nonprofit organizations must be able to measure results for all kinds of reasons: because funders ask us to do it; because it helps us improve our work; and because it’s the right thing to do. But, how do you get started on evaluating your programs?

In this training, Shital Shah of the Innovation Network will use simple language to teach the basics of program evaluation. During this training, she will:

· Provide a definition of a logic model, and review the parts of a logic model.
· Use a sample program to discuss the elements of a logic model.
· Discuss the elements of an outcomes evaluation.
· Provide participants time to practice developing outcomes and indicators.

Note: The training on June 6 is focused especially on organizations that work with youth.
