Grants

New Roots Providence is a program of The Providence Plan. Its purpose is to build the capacity of faith and community organizations by providing training, grants, and technical assistance.

Since 2006, forty-four organizations and two partnerships have been awarded New Roots grants.

These grants are a very different kind of grant. They do not support operations or salary, but support the learning necessary to strengthen an organization’s structure and management functions. Most organizations used our grants to purchase technical assistance2 or training.

2008 Grantees

In March, New Roots Providence received many strong applications for our 2008 grant cycle. After careful thought, our volunteer readers reached a decision on 16 organizations that will receive grants in 2008.

For the first time, we have funded two partnership grants.
